Paramount School and College
Paramount School and College is a private, co‑educational institution that provides English-speaking education from pre-school to high school (Class XII) and is registered with both Cambridge International Examinations and Rajshahi Board of Education. It was founded in 1997, graduated its first GCE O Level class in 2004, and its first A Level class in 2006. The first SSC batch graduated in 2009. Paramount is housed in its own four-storey, custom-designed building in Chandrima Residential Area.
The school has two curricular streams: the GCE (O and A Level) stream and the English-Medium National Curriculum stream. A common curriculum is however followed from Pre-school to Class IV. Students opt for either the GCE or National Curriculum from Class V, Cambridge GCE ‘O’ and ‘A’ Level.
The Teaching Staff
Paramount currently employs about 60 teachers in the Junior and Senior sections. In addition to the permanent teaching staff, Paramount also employs Teaching Assistants and temporary staff to maintain full strength in all classes. The majority of teachers are Masters graduates and most have several years experience. Many teachers have, since 2001, received training in courses conducted by the British Council and Cambridge International Examinations. Since 2008 Paramount teachers also regularly take part in training sessions conducted by the government’s Education Directorate. Under the framework of a joint project with Rajshahi University and the University of Education in Freiburg (Germany) Paramount school regularly hosts student teachers from Germany. As a part of their teacher training they are teaching classes, supported and advised by a local mentor from Paramount school.
