University of Education Freiburg (UE) Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Rajshahi University (RU), Bangladesh
Rajshahi University and the University of Education signed a memorandum of understanding to
exchange students, teachers, scientists and researchers for the development of education in higher studies at Rajshahi on Sunday.
The RU vice-chancellor, Prof. Abdus Sobhan, the UE Professor, Dr. Gregor C. Falk and Prof. Dr. Raquib Ahmed, director of the Environmental Science Institute signed the memorandum on behalf of respective universities.
RU pro-vice-chancellor Nurullah and a six-member delegation of the German university were present during the signing.
Abdus Sobhan said, according to this memorandum, students, teachers and researchers would get more opportunity to conduct their works.
According to what we can hear from Prof. Falk (Dep. of Geography, UE Freiburg), the Memorandum can be seen as a landmark in an already long lasting cooperation between the Universities. Common projects about various aspects of climate- and land use change as well as research activities on educational concerns of school students in Bangladesh will benefit from the MoU.
Until Christmas three of the UE students will stay in Bangladesh to do some research work about future perspectives of children and young adults, in February a group of twenty geography students from Freiburg is going to visiting Bangladesh.
University of Rajshahi is the second largest University in the country (about 25000 students) and the highest seat of learning in the northern region of Bangladesh. The University has crossed 55 years of its foundation opening its door for the students with a solemn promise to spread quality of higher education and research on July 6, 1953. Situated at the green premises of Motihar, the main campus of the university is very close to the mighty river Padma and three miles east of Rajshahi City.
